The Director’s Call: A prayer

When I hear the Director’s call
To exit stage right,
And I alone
Must face the last of night,

I do not wish to make a bow
Or hear any applause
For now i know, my exit
is not the end of the show.

Sensations of light, pain, love,
Always feeling the changing
of the times,
With scenes shifting
We found ourselves performing,
Some speak fewer lines
But all one day leaving.

Some with head hung sadness, some with joy filled eyes.
Some with hope and tranquilty, others with bitterness of why’s this happening to me, Some with courage and beauty, Others with disdain and disgrace,
But I,
just want to see my Director’s face

I won’t plead or argue
the timing of Your cue

I’m not worried about leaving alone

Like all shows,
I will see my friends again
At drawing of
The final curtian close.

When I hear the Director’s call
To exit stage right,
And I alone
Must face the last of night,

Let another take my place
Let the stage for him be set
For the show we all perform
Has not ended yet

And the show must go on.

In my last hour,
Let me at last be comforted
In that quiet peaceful place
In that perfect solemn hour
Seeing fully my Director’s face.

Amen.
